Louisiana Tech reaches halfway mark of spring practice

- By Louisiana Tech Sports Information

RUSTON, La. — After the weather washed out practice earlier this week, the Louisiana Tech football team was back out for spring practice No. 7 Thursday morning inside Joe Aillet Stadium.

The Bulldogs will have eight more practices with the last one being the annual spring game set for April 27 in the Joe.

Through the first seven practices, the focus has been finding consistency within a new team on both sides of the ball.

"I feel like we are getting better," said first-year defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson. "The guys are playing fast, communicating well, and I think they are having fun. We are going go try to always be positive and celebrate when we do good things."

"There is a lot of potential in this offense," said offensive coordinator Scott Parr. "I feel like we have the players that have the right mentality to get us to where we need to be."

Veteran offensive lineman Bert Hale and reigning Conference USA Freshman of the Year Michael Richard feel that spring practice is going very smooth even with all the new Bulldogs. "We have a lot of new guys and I thought it was going to take some time for them to get in and get the flow, but they have come in ready and have hit the playbook hard," said Hale.

"We are coming together, trying to build trust with a lot of newcomers," said Richard. "We are playing fast, playing together, playing smart. We are trying to attack the day."

Another veteran, wide receiver Tru Edwards, is in the same camp as Richard as it relates to playing fast.

"I feel like practice is getting better each and every day. We continue to go fast, run plays, and just have to stay consistent throughout the spring."
