- BY BRADLY GILL

CARTI Cancer Center was the site of the Union County El Dorado Business After Hours event and the organization showcased it’s second phase of construction during the event.

The second phase was made possible through ARPA funding the organization received in February.

The $7 million in funding, the company said at the time through a press release, will help to complete PHASE 2 in the construction of its $19 million comprehensive cancer center in El Dorado. The Carti Cancer Center opened in December 2021 in El Dorado, according to previous News-Times reporting, and currently provides services including medical oncology and PET imaging services.

“CARTI has obtained funding to finalize the Phase II development of our $19 million comprehensive cancer center in El Dorado,” said Adam Head, CARTI President and CEO. “This is a one-time $7 million investment with generational impact, and it is nothing short of transformational for so many patients. We have served South Arkansas and Northern Louisiana for nearly 25 years, and completing this project will allow us to provide even more comprehensive care to the state. Our entire team is ready and thankful to have been considered for this crucial funding. We believe it’s needed, and as a mission-led organization, we are committed to expanding our services to meet the needs of our patients.”

Head stated at the BAH event, “In 2024, there’s expected to be 19,100 people who are being told ‘You have cancer.’ And we know that there is a disproportionate share of those patients who are living in SouthnArkansas”
