Evangelina R. “Eva” Flores

-

Evangelina (“Eva”) R. Flores, a warrior to the very end, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, November 21, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous battle with lymphoma at the age of 80. Eva was the life of every gathering she attended and made countless friends and acquaintances everywhere she went. She will be greatly missed. Born in El Paso, Texas on May 31, 1943, she was proud of being both a native of the Segundo Barrio and a Bowie Bear. Her extreme dedication to personal fitness enabled her to battle her affliction courageously. Before her illness, she was a constant presence at her local Westside YMCA where she loved to exercise and socialize with her friends. She loved her Zumba, kick boxing and yoga classes and her instructors. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 56 years, Jesus Daniel Flores; her daughter, Veronica Marie Esqueda (Ruben); her son, Daniel David Flores; as well as her three grandsons whom she was immensely proud of, Lieutenant Junior Grade (USN) Adam Zachary Esqueda, Cadet First Class (U.S. Military Academy) David Alexander Esqueda, and Midshipman First Class (U.S. Naval Academy) Eric Michael Esqueda. She is also survived by her brother, Fernando Rangel ( Jo Ann), sister, Rosa Rangel, several nephews and nieces and many more extended family members and friends. Evangelina is preceded in death by her parents, Othon and Socorro Rangel and her brothers, Ruben Rangel and Othon Rangel, Jr. The Flores family would like to thank the dedicated doctors, nurses and staff at the Mayo Clinic Phoenix Campus for their dedication, support and compassionate care. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Monday, November 27, 2023 with a Holy Rosary to commence at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-West. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 408 Park St., El Paso, Texas 79901 followed by a burial service at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 1:30 pm.
