EL PASO - Donna Steele Criner Foster was born in Johnson Creek, Roane County, WV on August 15, 1933, and passed from this life on Sunday, November 19, 2023. After graduating from Walton High School, she married the love of her life, Lawrence Boyd Criner, and they were married until his death in 1999. They had four children: Lawrence (Larry) Boyd Criner, Jr. (Cathy), of San Antonio, TX; Roger Criner (Bonnie), of Arlington, TX; Mary Beth Ubinger (Russ) of El Paso, TX; and David Criner ( Judy) of Midland, TX. Preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence Boyd Criner, her parents, Hallie and Virginia ( Vineyard) Steele, and three brothers, John, Jack, and Michael. She followed her husband around the world, crossing both the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, ending their Army career in El Paso, TX, in 1969. Donna retired after 20 years of service from the Department of Defense as an Executive Secretary to the Adjutant General at Fort Bliss, TX. She is survived by her four children, eight grandchild­ren, sixteen greatgrand­children, four bonus great-grandchild­ren, and her sister, Nancy Buntin of Tucson, AZ. Later in life, she married James E. Foster, who remained her constant companion during her final days. With her marriage to James, came two bonus daughters, Jamie Engelhardt of El Paso, TX, and Tarra Barnes, of Biloxi, MS, and two bonus grandchild­ren and two bonus great-grandchild­ren. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, El Paso, TX. Committal Service will be at 2:30pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
