EVENT Solving reconstruc­tion pricing disputes

United Policyhold­ers, which advocates for insurance policyhold­ers after wildfires, will be putting on the next workshop in its Roadmap to Recovery series on Saturday. It will focus on overcoming roadblocks to rebuilding, particular­ly solving reconstruc­tion pricing disputes. An RSVP is required for the event. People can register by emailing info@uphelp.org. It will take place on Jan. 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal at 2341 Floral Ave., Chico.

EVENT Upper Ridge community meeting on insurance

The Upper Ridge Community Council will host its monthly meeting on Thursday, focused on insurance. United Policyhold­ers and the Rebuild Paradise Foundation will offer updated informatio­n about changes in insurance policy and law and how to find the best insurance for your home. After the meeting, insurance agents who write policies on the Ridge will be available for one-on-one consultati­ons. The event will take place Thursday, Jan. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 15204 Skyway Road, Magalia.

EVENT Home building workshop

Assemblyma­n James Gallagher will host a workshop about the new

CEQA housing exemption for the Camp Fire region granted by AB 430 on Thursday. City officials and landowners from Oroville, Gridley, Biggs, Yuba City, Live Oak, Corning, Orland and Willows will be there to talk about opportunit­ies for housing growth. RSVP at 430 895 4217. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Southside Oroville Community Center at 2959 Lower Wyandotte Road, Oroville.

NEWS Mandatory tree removal

The town of Paradise and Butte County have passed emergency ordinances requiring property-owners to sign up to remove hazardous trees that could fall on public infrastruc­ture. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has agreed to fund the removal. There are at least 13,200 eligible property-owners. People can sign up in-person at the Butte County Library’s Paradise Branch at 5922 Clark Road. The forms are also available for download online at buttecount­yrecovers.org/treeremova­l. They can be mailed to the Tree Removal ROE Processing Center; 205 Mira Lima Drive, Suite 50; Oroville, CA, 95965 — or e-mailed to treeroe@buttecount­y.net. An informatio­n line has been set up at 530.552.3030. The deadline is Feb. 21.

NEWS Paradise numbers updated

At the end of 2019, the town of Paradise had received 700 building permits, though staff had originally only expected around 200. The town of Paradise is still processing building permits at town hall as it continues work on its Building Resiliency Center.
