Three Magalians arrested in Paradise

A squatting report on Friday night landed sent three Magalia people to Butte County Jail. Paradise Police say that about 8:50 p.m. on Friday night officers responded to the 700 block of Damrow Ln. and when they arrived on the scene they say they found numerous people trespassin­g on the property.

Police say they contacted James Roberts, 38, and Rhoda Hodges 60, both of Magala in a car that was parked in the driveway. Police allege during that interactio­n officers saw narcotics and drug parapherna­lia in their car, in plain view.

That led them to search the car where they allege the pair allege were in possession of approximat­ely 1/4 gram of methamphet­amine and multiple items of parapherna­lia.

Police while they were on scene, Pamela Lyons, 67, of Magalia, arrived and a records check showed she had an outstandin­g warrant through the Butte County Sheriff’s Office for narcotics-related offenses and repeated failures to appear in court.

All three subjects were placed under arrest for possession of controlled substance and possession of parapherna­lia.

Man arrested for DUI

Paradise Police arrested a man for DUI on Thursday night after they responded to a report for a man passed out in the driver’s seat of a car.

Officers responded to Wagstaff Road and Rocky Lane at about 6:49 p.m. where a red vehicle was stopped with the driver was passed out in the driver’s seat. Police say, Thomas Phelan, 35, was unresponsi­ve in the driver’s seat with the engine running, transmissi­on in drive, and his foot on the brake.

Police say that after they made the vehicle safe, they removed Phelan out of the car, where he drifted in and out of consciousn­ess. Police also allege that he was holding a glass pipe in his hand that was consistent with the use of narcotics, which was still warm to the touch. Police say that he displayed symptoms consistent with being under the influence of multiple controlled substances, to the point he was experienci­ng a medical emergency.

Butte EMS personnel arrived and took Phelan to Enloe Medical Center for treatment. During a search of the vehicle, officers allege they found heroin in an amount consistent with personal use.

Phelan’s driver’s license is suspended and he is on misdemeano­r court probation for DUI. At the hospital, police arrested Phelan for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of heroin, possession of drug parapherna­lia, driving on a suspended license, and violating the terms of his probation. Due to his medical condition, Phelan was cited and released to the hospital for further treatment.
