5 arrested after search turns up illegal weapons
OROVILLE >> Five people have been arrested following an investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, said a press release issued Wednesday by the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
On Jan. 18, reports came in from Gridley of a car being forced into an intersection and off the roadway by another vehicle.
Detectives believe Jeremy Justeson was involved in the incident and arrested him after getting a warrant, the release said.
Justeson, 42, of Gridley, was arrested on suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon, felony vandalism, possession of assault weapons, possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a residence to sell narcotics and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
Four additional arrests were subsequently made in relation to the case.
April Petersen, 40, of Oroville, was arrested on suspicion of felony identity theft, committing a felony while out on bail, possession of an illegal pyrotechnic device, being in possession of ammunition as a felon and possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia.
Melchor Salgado, 26, of Gridley, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of ammunition while prohibited.
Shane Benson, 38, of Colusa, was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
Laura Brockway, 49, of Gridley, was arrested on suspicion of having ammunition despite being prohibited. Detectives and deputies searched multiple locations such as the 700 block of Cowee Avenue in Gridley and the 1900 block of Veatch Street in Oroville.
Illegal assault weapons were found along with personal information used for identity theft, a pyrotechnic device and over 80 pounds of marijuana.
