PARADISE » The Paradise Irrigation District voted 4-0 to hire meter production company Zenner on Wednesday night to conduct the meter replacement project within the district boundaries.

The project will cost at most $1.3 million annually and take three years to complete. The project will be paid with insurance and FEMA funds.

According to WaterWorks’s Sami Kader, who presented the recommendation to the board, Zenner will replace about 4,500 meters with the capacity to add more.

The vote occurred with little discussion.

At the time of the Camp

Fire, the PID had about 10,000 meters within its district.

Zenner’s bid included components of the material supply, professional services, as field installation of the equipment.

The staff also noted that due to the actual distribution of customers there may be a need for additional repeaters.

It’s for that reason staff says the near $1.2 million bid by Zenner could rise to $1.32 million per year. Zenner is a Texas company that has been in business since 1903. The business produces water meters, heat meters, gas meters and systems that go along with it.

Ad hoc members named

The Paradise Irrigation District voted 4-0 to accept all of the applicants to the Ad Hoc Customer Recovery Support Committee.

Instead of being concerned about which districts each of the applicants was living in, the directors just took all four.

Among the four were former PID director Cliff Jacobson and former town council candidate Lee Brown.

In addition to Brown and Jacobson, the board appointed Richard Gowins and Chris Rehmann to the committee, the purpose of which will be to contribute to decisions on water-related issues facing Paradise.
