‘A Legacy Lost’ left a big impact A ‘yes’ vote for Proposition 15

I sincerely enjoyed the timely article you chose to print regarding rancher, Dave Daley, his family, and friends.

As a city person, I was totally unaware of this chosen type of lifestyle. Yes, I owned horses and boarded them in a locally horse boarding facility. These horses were there for my own pleasure and I had minimal responsibility for these animals except for what I chose to do in preparation for a ride such as cleaning their hoofs, lunging, etc.

To be able to observe a family who has chosen ranching as a way of life and becoming aware of how they lovingly cared for the animals and the land truly touched me. Their dedication to the land was so obvious, and to have your life totally changed in an instant was heart rendering.

Hopefully his account of what occurred will open the federal and state government aware of the necessity for immediate change in land management. I’ll cross my fingers for them.

Mr. Daley’s account of this travesty will be cathartic for him, but I also feel, it is a learning experience for the readers. We need all the information we can get regarding these wonderful lands we are surrounded by. Mr. Daley has now opened the door to all of us. Thank You Mr. Daley. Please continue to keep us informed.

The opponents of Proposition 15 are blatantly lying about its provisions. In their televised advertisements the say that it will raise taxes on homeowners and small businesses.

Not true. Under Prop. 15 there would be no change in property taxes on your home or other residential properties. Agricultural property is exempt and would not be impacted by Prop. 15. Small businesses with less than $3 million in California property would not be affected.

Presently most large commercial properties, as an unanticipated consequence of Proposition 13, pay property taxes at a much lower rate than most homeowners and small business owners. Proposition 15 would correct that and have large commercial interest bear their share of the property tax burden.

Increasing the tax rate on those who have benefited unfairly from Prop. 13 would raise between $6.5 billion and $11.5 billion for cities, counties, special districts, schools and community colleges.

It’s a no brainer. Vote Yes on Proposition 15.
