Numbers tell the story of Trump’s legacy
Now that Donald Trump’s presidency has mercifully concluded, let’s review his legacy, by the numbers:
-30,000: number of falsehoods and lies he told/ tweeted.
-$8.3 trillion: amount added to the national debt in Trump’s four years (twice what was added in Obama’s eight years).
-405,000: number of Americans who died during his tenure from a preventable disease which he consistently downplayed and denied.
-1814: the last time the US Capitol was breached, until this year.
-117: number of pardons he issued (including to convicted murderers), most on behalf of political cronies and wealthy donors.
-150: number of rounds of golf he played, most at his own resorts.
-$144 million: cost to taxpayers of his golf trips.
-360: number of years of “donated” presidential salary it would take to pay for the cost of the golf trips.
-2: number of times he was impeached.
-3: number of executive/legislative branches (House of Representatives, Senate, Presidency) controlled by Republicans after Trump’s election in 2016.
-0: number of executive/legislative branches controlled by Republicans today.
I’m not a Lindsey Graham fan, but I’ve got to give him props for his prescience when he said in 2016, “Donald Trump is not a conservative, he’s an opportunist. He’s not fit to be President of the United States… If we nominate Donald Trump, we will get destroyed and we will deserve it.” You called it, Lindsey.
