Chico High boys, girls run past River Valley
Twin Molina sisters finish 1st and 2nd, respectively, for Chico girls team
Chico High School’s boys and girls cross country teams took on River Valley High School in a cross country meet at Hooker Oak Park on Saturday. Chico High won both meets as River Valley had just five varsity runners and seven JV runners.
Boys
Junior Mario Giannini won the boys varsity race with a time of 15:49.48. He was followed by senior Liam Sehorn (16:27.73) and Jack Hervey (17:21.17) in second and third, respectively. In fourth was Nate Solecki (17:50.64) and he was followed by Robert Moncrief (18:06.41), Daniel Morlet (18:39.72) and Damian Ramirez (19:15.69).
Cristian Munguia (19:41.53 was the eighth for Chico while Lucas Powers (25:27.97) was 11th. The top River Valley finisher was Travis Prasad-Brown in ninth with a time of 20:08.38.
The JV race was won by Carson Sasaki with a time of 12:47.22 while Diego Gonzalez-Carbajal was second at 13:02.68.
Girls
Junior Della Molina claimed the varsity girls race with a time 20:18.15, just ahead of her twin sister Iresh Molina (20:18.40). In third for the Panthers was sophomore Dorothy Clemente (21:28.83) while junior Tori Mackay was fourth at (22:18.64). Following Mackay were seniors Amanda Harris (23:30.21) and Calle Anderson (24:25.57). Elizabeth Pena rounded out the scoring for Chico
with a time of 27:53.38
Junior Simrandeep Kandola (27:53.38) was the top finisher for River Valley while teammate Cierra Zoller had a time of (27:53.38)
The JV race was won by Elizabeth Saldana with a time of 14:54.22 while Lillian Moore was second at 14:54.22.
