Butte Creek hosts WGANC open tourney

The Women’s Golf Association of Northern California held its first Open Day Tournament of the year last week, hosted by Butte Creek.

Several teams from the local clubs fared well in the two-person, one best-ball Stableford format.

First flight: 1, Jeanne Lowe and Debbie Maderos, 41 pts.; 2, Karla Dreiss and Kelly MacKinnon, 40 pts.; 3, Gina Davis and Karen Escott, 38 pts. Linda Arellano and Lynn Beyers took 3rd in the second flight with 37 pts.Evie Spring and Nancy Taylor along with Kathy Sullivan and Susan Wever tied for 4th place with 36 pts. Connie Anderson and Marian Chandler claimed the 3rd spot in the third flight with 40 pts.

Teams finishing in the top three places of each flight earned points that will accumulate through-out the year for all the Open Day tournaments. Those earning the most points will receive awards at the end of

Canyon Oaks CC

The Canyon Oaks Women’s Golf Club played a game called “Criss Cross” for its weekly tournament.

Players could choose the best score on 1 or 10, 2 or 11, 3 or 12, etc. and subtract one-half their handicap for the 9-hole score.

First flight low gross: Shelley Carney, 80. Low net: Evie Spring, 68. First flight game: 1, Sally Pearson,

There were a total of 11 birdies on the day and Carney had four of them on holes, 3, 8, 13 and 14, which definitely explains her fine round of 80.

Table Mountain GC

Sally Stemen was low gross over the field with a score of 82 in the Table

Mountain Women’s Golf Club weekly outing. Dana Blanton was low net with a score of 73.

The Bidwell Park Women’s Golf Club held its monthly pro-points tournament last week.

Keeping true to form, Kelly MacKinnon was low gross in the first flight with a score of 86.
