Born in Ames, Iowa on December 16, 1947 to August and Evelyn (Ruth) Thompson. Richard was raised on the Thompson farm in Iowa, then ultimately moved to Chico, CA. He was a long-time member of the Esplanade Baptist Church, student of Chico High and served in the Vietnam War while in the US Army. Married (Linda Gray) and raised their 4 children, Gina Tataryn (Darcy), Tammy Warren (Paul), Kimberlee Norbury (Tyler) and Richard Thompson, Jr (Meghan). Richard was a dedicated dairy hand for Langerwerf dairy, then changed careers and moved to Orland, CA. He served the local community of dairies working for Surge (Westside & Mid-State), where he made many lifelong friendship­s. He and his second wife then moved to Oregon, then retired. Richard enjoying fishing, watching sports, and sharing memories with friends and family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchild­ren, and friends. He will be remembered for his lively storytelli­ng, laughter, positive attitude, and lightheart­ed-loving spirit. Richard passed away at home June 3, 2021. He is proceeded into death by his parents, his brother Gerald Thompson; sisters Elenore Ann Thompson and Sally Harkema. He is survived by his wife and children; sister Mary Viera; brothers Dennis Thompson and Mario Thompson; 22 grandchild­ren; 12 great grandchild­ren; many beloved nieces and nephews. A Memorial with Military Honors will be held at the Veteran’s Hall in Corning, CA July 24th @ 1pm
