Man suspected of shooting roommate arrested

OROVILLE » A man in Oroville suspected of shooting his roommate was arrested Monday, according to the Oroville Police Department.

Nicholas Turner, 29, was arrested after the alleged shooting had occurred. Police said that both Turner and the person who had been shot live at the residence where the shooting happened.

“Officers from the Oroville Police Department responded to the location and were able to locate the suspect who came out of his residence unarmed and without incident,” a press release form the Oroville Police Department said. “The suspect was detained on scene.”

The Oroville Police Department received a report around 5:10 p.m. Monday of a shooting the 2300 block of Fort Wayne Street in Oroville. According to the press release, there were reports at the time of the call that the shooter was still allegedly armed with a gun and was at the scene at the time of the call.

The press release said that the officers who responded to the scene located someone suffering from a gunshot wound. The person was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The press release said that the person who was shot is reported to be in stable condition with a non-life-threatenin­g wound.

Oroville Police Department Investigat­ions Unit had responded to the scene to investigat­e this case. Police said that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and is not an on-going threat to the community.

Turner was arrested on suspicion of assault upon a person with a firearm. He was taken to Butte County Jail and has a bail set at $60,000. The investigat­ion is still active.
