ALLEN LAWRENCE HACKETT

-

Allen Lawrence Hackett was born April 22, 1940 at Enloe hospital in Chico, California. Dr. and Mrs. Enloe signed his birth certificate. Allen attended grammar and high schools in Chico, graduating in 1958 from Chico High School before joining the US Navy where he was stationed in Corpus Christie, TX. Allen was honorably discharged and returned home to attend Chico State. It is there that he met and later married his college sweetheart Nancy Elizabeth (Jones). They were married for 44 years. Allen received his Bachelor of Science from Chico State in 1964. Allen is survived by his two children David Hackett (Daphne) of Menlo Park and Karen Villalobos (Jerrod) of Yuba City, four grandchildren (J.T., Ava, Lily, and Mia) and his significant other, Elisabeth Stewart. Following the attainment of his Masters in Agricultural Economics from UC Davis in 1966, Allen spent his career in agricultural banking throughout the state of California. He worked for Security Pacific, Bank of California and ultimately retired from Feather River Bank in Yuba City, CA. He and Nancy returned to Chico in 1990 purchasing property to farm walnuts. Allen said it was his retirement plan and this investment, Nutcracker Farm, became their family’s labor of love. Allen was a quiet and generous philanthropist, contributing over the years to the Davis Rotary’s renovation of the Boy Scout Cabin, serving on church vestries for Episcopal Church of Saint Martin (Davis) and St. John’s Episcopal Church (Chico), hosting a Paradise fire victim, and volunteering at the Torres Center in Chico with his grandson, JT. One of his most proud accomplishments came later in his life as a member of the River Partners Board of Directors. Upon his retirement from the board in 2021 the attributes about Allen were many. Allen passed away peacefully at home following kidney failure. His successful kidney transplant July, 2001 was donated by son, David. His kidney exceeded the average donated lifespan and gave Allen an opportunity to fulfill his role as doting Papa and provide worldwide travel opportunities with his children, grandchildren, friends, and Elisabeth. A service will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Chico, California Saturday, February 5th at 1:00PM followed by an outdoor reception. Covid mask protocols will be followed and the service will be available via the church’s website. In lieu of flowers the family would request that donations be made to Chico River Partners 580 Vallombrosa Ave, Chico, CA 95926 in memory of Allen.
