GEOFFREY NEIL GIPSON

It is with great sorrow and an abundance of love that we mourn the passing of Geoffrey Neil Gipson, of Chico, age 71. He is survived by his brothers, John and Russell; his daughters, Michelle and Ashley; his grandchildren, Kylan, Garrett, Kaysen, Kenryk, and Wyatt; his wife, Vivian (Vee); and his stepchildren, Stephanie and Lilly. Geoff has been married to his current wife Vee for nearly 25 years.

Geoff was born on January 28th, 1950 to Clarence and May Gipson. After graduating from Pacific Grove High School, he enrolled in the Coast Guard and later studied business at San Jose State. Geoff purchased Valley Medical Supply in 1976, where he was known as a warmhearted community member who would go out of his way to help others. In 2011, he was awarded the Small Business Person of the year by the U.S. Small Business Administration for our Northern California District.

Geoff was an extraordinary man with varied interests and hobbies. In his younger days, he loved playing football, running track, and surfing in Monterey Bay. Geoff also enjoyed vintage cars, blues music, and planting bulbs in the fall. Yet, perhaps his biggest passion was skiing and teaching others to ski. Nearly all of his surviving family will carry warm memories of skiing with Geoff down the slopes of Heavenly.

Words cannot convey how much Geoff was loved and how deeply his loss will be felt. A private celebration of life will be held in the spring. Contributions in memory of Geoff can be made to the American Heart Association.
