Road work set for Skyway, Durham-Pentz Road
PARADISE » Drivers who commute between Paradise and Chico will see some road work on Skyway starting Monday, as well as those who use DurhamPentz Road from Highway 99 to Pentz Road.
The road work is expected to continue until September.
According to Butte County Public Works, construction crews will begin repaving the Skyway from the Chico city limits at Potter Road to the Paradise town limits at the Skyway Crossroads to repair damage caused by the Camp Fire cleanup and the recovery efforts in Paradise.
According to the county, construction work will be Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, motorists can expect traffic control measures seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
The Public Works Department says that the Skyway will be limited one lane in either direction and or both directions simultaneously with full-road closures intermittently to allow crews to move construction equipment and perform work.
During non-working hours, the contractor will monitor traffic control measures to ensure they remain in place and address any issues that may come up.
Motorists can expect delays of up to 20 minutes due to slow-moving traffic and intermittent periods of a full road closure. Motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Neal Road, Clark Road (Highway 191), or Pentz Road.
While the county encourages the use of those alternative routes, on Monday, the county will start road maintenance on DurhamPentz Road from Highway 99 to Pentz Road.
That maintenance work will be conducted Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. DurhamPentz Road will be limited to one lane with traffic control measures during operations. It is expected to conclude on May 20. Motorists can expect delays of up to 20 minutes during maintenance operations and are urged to use caution while passing through work zones.
