Not a fan of new climate textbook

-

I don’t really want to rain on anyone’s parade but here’s a quick Who’s Who of those bringing you the newly-released climate change denial ‘textbook’ for teachers and students, “Climate at a Glance for Teachers and Students” (Opinions, May 1):

The Heartland Institute (apparently the publisher), an American conservative and libertarian public policy think tank known for its rejection of the scientific consensus on climate change and the negative impacts of smoking (i.e., Philip Morris; the discrediting of health risks of secondhand smoke and lobbying against smoking bans).

Anthony Watts (Author), an American blogger affiliated with the Heartland Institute who runs “Watts Up With That?” a climate change denial blog that opposes the scientific consensus on climate change.

James Taylor (Author), the President of the Heartland Institute, the above-mentioned hard-right think tank funded by oil companies, the carbon industry and other wealthy corporate and foundation leaders.

H. Sterling Burnett (Editor), a research fellow on climate and environmental policy at The Heartland Institute.

There it is, signed, sealed and delivered to us, all compliments of The Heartland Institute.

I hope California Public School Science Curriculum experts will take a long, hard look at the source of this climate change denial text before its consideration for possible adoption as a CA State approved textbook.

I imagine the book will be right on top of the list on newly adopted Science Curriculum textbooks for the State of Florida Public School System

(if it passes Florida’s ‘Critical Race Theory’ school textbook litmus test).
