Hamilton outscores Trinity in a thriller

Orland stays unbeaten in shutout of Paradise

The Hamilton football team defeated Trinity 38-36 Friday night in Paradise, led by a balanced attack by the Braves offense.

Quarterback Diego Sanchez completed 12-of-23 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Sanchez added eight rushes for 32 yards and three rushing scores. Armando Salazar had three catches for 88 yards and a touchdown, and Connor Bonesio led in receptions with five for 74 yards. Bryant Odom led the Hamilton rushers with 12 carries for 76 yards.

Hamilton (6-1, 2-0 Mid-Valley League) continues MVL play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Biggs.

ORLAND 35, PARADISE 0 >> Orland led 21-0 at halftime and defeated Paradise on Friday in Orland. It was the second straight shutout for the Trojans and their fourth victory by 35-or-more points in seven games.

Alex Martinez recorded the lone pass for the Trojans, a 19yard pass. Martinez led OHS in rushing with 92 yards on nine carries and three TDs. QB Grant Foster had 67 rushing yards and one TD. Seven Orland rushers combined for 347 yards on 35 carries and five touchdowns. On defense, Diego Rico led Orland with 15 tackles, Isaac Orozco had 12 tackles and Christian Padilla had 11 tackles. Khalil Coley led with two sacks.

Paradise reported no individual stats.

Orland (7-0, 2-0 Butte View League) continues BVL play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Las Plumas.

Paradise (1-6, 0-2 BVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Gridley.

ENTERPRISE 41, SHASTA 10 >> Enterprise defeated Shasta in the River Bowl on Friday night at Shasta.

Enterprise (7-0, 2-0 Eastern Athletic League) stays undefeated and will host Red Bluff at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Redding. The Hornets will play at Chico High Nov. 4 to close out both teams’ regular seasons.

CORNING 15, LAS PLUMAS 9 >> On Friday night, Corning defeated Las Plumas in Oroville. LP led 9-0 at halftime, but Corning scored seven points in the third quarter and eight points in the fourth quarter to claim the come-frombehind victory.

Sophomore Colt Dagorret led Corning with 16 carries for 74

yards and one TD, and senior Ian Brown had 12 carries for 72 yards and one TD.

Las Plumas reported no individual stats.

Corning (3-4, 2-0 BVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Oroville.

Las Plumas (2-5, 1-1 BVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Orland.

GRIDLEY 41, OROVILLE 6 >>

Gridley defeated Oroville in Gridley on Friday night.

Gridley led 27-6 at halftime and scored 14 unanswered points in the second half to claim the home victory. Gridley quarterback Gus Stogsdill completed 3-of-5 passes for 43 yards and one TD and ran 16 times for 189 yards and four TDs. Aiden Gomez ran 10 times for 139 yards and one TD. Sophomore Nathan Zumwalt led with 11 tackles on defense.

Oroville reported no individual stats.

Oroville (0-7, 0-2 BVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Corning.

COLUSA 35, DURHAM 0 >>

Colusa stayed undefeated with a road victory against Durham on Friday night. The Trojans lost their third straight game after opening their season 4-0, while Colusa stayed undefeated at 7-0.

Ryan Doyle had 14 yards rushing and 8 yards passing for Durham, Andrew

King had 26 yards rushing and Sam Dyer had 13 yards rushing.

Durham (4-3, 0-2 Sacramento Valley League) continues SVL play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at home against Winters (3-4, 1-1 SVL).

WILLOWS 23, MT. SHASTA 0 >>

Willows won via shutout Friday night in Mt. Shasta.

Willows scored in each quarter to bounce back from its loss against Hamilton on Oct. 7.

Either team reported no individual stats.

Willows (3-4, 1-1 MVL) plays next at 7 p.m. Friday at Williams.

Williams defeated Biggs in Biggs on Friday night.

Biggs trailed 14-0 after the first quarter and scored its lone touchdown in the fourth quarter but came up short.

Biggs QB Chase Mclean completed 8-of-15 passes for 65 yards and Zach Smith led the Wolverines in rushing with 11 carries for 75 yards. On defense, Smith led in tackles with eight and Efren Solis had seven tackles.

Biggs (2-5, 0-2 MVL) plays next at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hamilton.

WILLIAMS 14, BIGGS 8 >> College men’s soccer CHICO STATE 1, CAL STATE SAN MARCOS 1 >>

Chico State tied Cal State San Marcos in San Marcos on Friday. The Wildcats outshot the Cougars 10-5 and 5-2 in shots on goal.

Each team scored once in the second half, with San Marcos’ Oliver Reader scoring in the 49th minute before Chico’s Justin Ricketts tied the game in the 87th

minute. Preston Moll assisted on the goal by Ricketts.

Chico State goalkeeper Luis Albarran recorded one save in the draw.

Chico State (6-3-5, 3-1-3 California Collegiate Athletic Association) plays next at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cal State San Bernardino.

Butte defeated Siskiyous in a come-from-behind victory in Weed.

Butte trailed 2-0 before Juan Tejada scored his first goal of the season on an assist by Luca Almeida. Siskiyous scored once more to make it 3-1 at halftime. Quintin Benn John scored in the 50th minute for Butte to trim the Roadrunners’ deficit to one goal, with assists by Sander Trevor and Tejada. Luca Almeida scored to tie the game at 3-3 in the 67th minute on an assist from Trevor and Antoine Joblet. In the 74th minute, Benn John scored his second goal of the game on an assist from Trevor and Almeida to give Butte a 4-3 lead. Stefano Garcia scored two minutes later on an assist from Joblet.

Butte goalkeeper Noris Iten made seven saves as Butte improved to 9-2-4 and 3-1 in Golden Valley Conference play. Butte plays next at 4 p.m. Tuesday at home against Mendocino.

BUTTE 3, SISKIYOUS 1 >> Women’s soccer CAL STATE SAN MARCOS 1, CHICO STATE 0 >>

The Chico State women’s soccer team lost Friday at Cal State San Marcos in a game the Wildcats were outshot 9-3 and 3-1 in shots on goal.

The Cougars scored in the 35th minute on a shot by Diana Mendoza, assisted by Emma Hard.

Chico State goalkeeper Emma Hofmann recorded two saves in the loss.

Chico State (6-3-4, 3-2-2 CCAA) plays next at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Cal State San Bernardino before returning home to host Cal State Dominguez Hills at 7 p.m. Friday in Chico.

BUTTE 6, SISKIYOUS 0 >> The Roadrunners won their third straight game on Friday at College of Siskiyous. The win moved Butte to 4-1 in Golden Valley Conference play and strengthened its hold onto second place. Butte didn’t provide stats.

College volleyball CAL STATE SAN BERNARDINO 3, CHICO STATE 0 >>

Chico State lost its eighth straight match Saturday in Chico, losing 25-16, 25-19, 25-23 to San Bernardino.

Zoe DiNardo led Chico State in kills with six, and Nariah Prescott had five kills. Brooke Ono led in assists with 11 and both of the Wildcats’ service aces. On defense, Lexi Carpenter led Chico in digs with six.

Chico State (3-16, 1-11 CCAA) played Cal Poly Pomona Saturday in Chico and now prepares for a four-match road trip beginning at 3 p.m. Friday at Cal State San Marcos. The Wildcats will return home Nov. 4 to host Cal State LA.
