-

Harlan Robbins "Bob" Goodsell, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather passed away at 90 years of age on November 24, 2022 in Chico, California. Born in San Diego, California on November 10, 1932, Bob was the second of four children born to Harlan Joseph Goodsell and Alta Mae Robbins Gooodsell. Bob grew up in southern California where he met his high school sweetheart, Daisy Jean Lane, whom he married in 1949.

Their marriage was later solemnized in the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Temple in St. George, Utah. As a life-long member of the LDS Church Bob held the position of High Priest.

Bob worked at Pacific Telephone for twelve years and then as a California Highway Patrol officer stationed first in Riverside and Santa Ana, California and then in Oroville and Chico, California until he was forced to retire early from the CHP in 1974 due to injuries.

Bob was always very proud of the time he served as a CHP officer. After leaving the highway patrol Bob worked as a real estate agent and as a loan officer.

In 1977, Bob moved his family from Paradise, California to Hyrum, Utah where he spent the next fifteen years employed by Utah State University as a Senior Research Technician in their Space Dynamics Laboratory.

Always interested in electronics, Bob was involved with Amateur "Ham" Radio, using the handle "Harl". Holding an Amateur Radio license for over fifty years, Bob was a member of the Golden Empire Amateur Radio Club in Chico, California and the Bridgerland Amateur Radio Club in Logan, Utah where he also served as president.

Having made many "Ham" Radio friends over the years from numerous countries, Bob and Daisy were able to visit many of them in person when they traveled throughout the world after their retirement. During their travels, Bob always kept an eye out for radio antennas. In 2010, Bob and Daisy moved from their home in Hyrum to North Logan, Utah. They again relocated in 2019 to Chico, California to be closer to family. Bob is survived and missed by his wife of 73 years, Daisy Lane Goodsell, and their five children: Robert Goodsell, Danny Goodsell, Cheryl Hall, Joanne Goodsell and Thomas Goodsell, as well as thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived and missed by his sister, Marylinn Goodsell Lankford. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Lois Goodsell Wells, brother David Goodsell and great-grandson Leland Hall. A Memorial Service for Harlan "Bob" Goodsell will be held for family and friends on Saturday, March 18, 2023, 11:30 am at the LDS Church located on 2430 Mariposa Avenue, Chico, California. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Enloe Hospital Foundation’s Hospice Program, or to the hospice program of your choice.
