A’s acquire Bleday from Marlins, trade lefty Puk
The Oakland A’s acquired lefty-hitting outfielder JJ Bleday from Miami on Saturday, sending left-hander A.J. Puk to the Marlins.
The 25-year-old Bleday made his major league debut last year, hitting .167 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 65 games. He made 27 starts in center field.
The 27-year-old Puk went 4-3 with a 3.12 ERA and four saves in 62 relief outings last season.

The chancellor at New Mexico State says players on the basketball team were interviewed by school personnel about an alleged hazing incident that led to the program’s suspension.
In a letter to the school community, chancellor Dan Arvizu said he was “heartbroken and sickened to hear about these hazing allegations.”
He said the team would remain under suspension until further notice.
The letter came out a few hours after the school announced it would hold a closed meeting Tuesday night to “discuss limited personnel matters concerning individual employees.”
