2 home goods stores in Chico closing, but mall gets new one
Two of Chico’s home goods stores, Bed, Bath & Beyond and Tuesday Morning, are closing their doors.
But there is also a new home goods store at the Chico Marketplace which opened Feb. 8.
“We are thrilled to welcome At Home to Chico Marketplace adding another very successful store to our center. This popular store will not only provide more shopping options to Chico but will also add significant employment opportunities to our community,” said Natasha Shelton, senior general manager of Chico Marketplace.
At Home had a soft opening on Feb. 8 at the mall with a grand opening event to take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25., according to a press release. The first 50 customers will receive At Home gift cards ranging in amounts from $20 to $200. There will be a raffle too.
At Home Store Manager Rebecca Watkins said business has been good so far.
“Business is going well,” said Watkins. “The weekend sales have been consistent.”
Watkins said paper fliers announcing the grand opening were distributed to various residences.
Watkins said outdoor decor is currently a bestseller.
“Patio furniture is popular right now as we approach spring,” she said.
Watkins said the store has 40 employees. She and Store Director Kacy Conant both worked at Cost Plus prior to their At Home jobs.
The stores Tuesday Morning along with Bed, Bath & Beyond are both having store closing sales. Neither store has a specific closing date yet. Tuesday Morning is located at 2485 Notre Dam Blvd. Bed, Bath & Beyond is located at 2101 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
At Home is located at 1982 East 20th St. in the Chico Marketplace. The store is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays. The phone number is 6306469. The website can be found at www.athome.com.
