Chico State’s annual day of giving started at midnight.

The annual day of giving is a campus wide effort to support Chico State causes. Giving Day continues to midnight March 2.

“Every year we have different challenges or matching gifts,” said Krysi Riggs, director of annual giving at Chico State. “It’s always exciting. This year we have 116 causes.”

Riggs said students have a chance to connect with the university during giving day.

“Our students engage with the community,” Riggs said. “I think it helps segments of different groups.”

Riggs said there are a wide variety of causes and challenges which people can donate to.

“The causes range from the basic needs food pantry to kinesiology students teaching physical education in the burn scar area. There are a vast collection of causes,” said Riggs. “We highlight areas divided into clubs and organizations and community engagement and equity diversity with scholarships and student success, sustainability and sports.”

Several students will set up a booth at Trinity Commons Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to promote giving day.

“Attendees will give glimpses of different areas to support,” Riggs said. “We don’t take donations though in person.

Everything is online. We want to focus on the online aspect.”

The campaign pages are open for a week after the day of giving.

“Doing a little can achieve a a lot,” Riggs said.

“It’s a way for the community and Chico State to give support. There is valuable work being done at Chico State.”
