Margaret Ellen Morrison, age 88, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2023, in Chico, California. Margaret, the youngest of two siblings, was born on September 30, 1934, in Lakeview, Oregon to the late Mabel and Florence Reen. Margaret graduated from Oceanside High School in Oceanside, California. Margaret grew up on an 800-acre cattle ranch in Northern California. Her favorite things to do was to follow her dad around on the ranch, ride her little mustang horse, and shoot her .22. Margaret married Jerry Morrison on June 17, 1948, and followed him around the world as a military spouse in the U.S. Navy. Often “holding down the fort” with three children when Jerry was deployed.

Margaret started working for Bank of America in 1951 and worked for them on and off for over twenty years. She also worked for the school district in Orange Park, Florida. Margaret is well known in the local community for her work with the Durham Irrigation District, Girl Scouts, and her extensive involvemen­t and volunteer work with the Eagles Organizati­on in Chico. Margaret was “Woman of the Year” for the Annual Durham Picnic/Parade in 2013. Margaret had a true servant heart and her wish for her family was for them to be happy.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Jerry in 2002 after 53 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter Toni Langlitz and her husband, Randy Langlitz, of Aztec, New Mexico; her daughter Pamela Kenney and her husband, Pat Kenney, of Chula Vista, California; her daughter Carolyn Gillette, of Durham, California; nine grand children- Robert (Melanie) Morrison, Haley (Joel) Huffman, Vanessa Gillette, Tiana Gillette, Lindsay Langlitz, Caleb Langlitz, Michaela (Christian) Lewis, Savannah Langlitz, and Abigail Langlitz; and five great-grandchild­ren Amelia and Tegan Morrison, Selah, Bianca, and Leo Huffman.

A memorial service will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at the Eagles Hall in Chico. All are welcome to honor Margaret’s life and celebrate her favorite holiday, St. Patrick’s Day.
