NFL bans Eagles security chief from sideline

-

The NFL has banned Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro from being on the sideline for the remainder of the regular season after he was ejected from a game earlier this month for a scuffle with 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw, two people familiar with the league's decision told The Associated Press on Saturday.

DiSandro is still allowed to travel with the team to Seattle for its Monday night game and he can perform all other work duties but he is not permitted on the sideline, one of the people said. Both people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the league hasn't announced its decision, said DiSandro can return to the sideline for the playoffs.

DiSandro pulled Greenlaw off Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith and shouted at him after a reception in the third quarter of Philadelphia's 42-19 loss to San Francisco on Dec. 3. Greenlaw,

who was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the play, popped up and reached over two officials to put his hand in DiSandro's face.

Greenlaw was ejected and later fined $10,927 by the league for the unnecessary roughness penalty. DiSandro also was told to

leave and walked to the locker room to a rousing ovation from Eagles fans.

College basketball PURDUE TOPS ARIZONA >>

Fletcher Loyer tied a career high with 27 points, Braden Smith added 26 and No. 3 Purdue beat No. 1 Arizona 92-84.

Loyer was 5 of 9 on 3-pointers and Smith was 4 of 7 while falling one point shy of his career high.

Zach Edey added 22 points and nine rebounds, with the 7-foot-4 All-American handling the middle while Smith and Loyer supplied the outside firepower in the Indy Classic. KANSAS BEATS INDIANA >> Kevin McCullar Jr. scored 21 points, including four crucial free throws in the final minute, and Hunter Dickinson had 17 points and 14 rebounds as No. 2 Kansas rallied in the second half for a 75-71 win at Indiana.

The Jayhawks (10-1), who picked up their first victory at Assembly Hall, trailed by as many as 13 and did not take their first lead of the game until Dickinson scored in the post to make it 62-61 with 4:53 remaining.

Trey Galloway scored a career-high 28 points for Indiana (7-3), Mackenzie Mbako had 14, Malik Reneau finished with 13, and Kel'el Ware added 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Golf KUCHAR AND SON LEAD >>

Tiger Woods has never had a family outing quite like the PNC Championship, even in the rain. He was competing with his 14-year-old son, Charlie, and his 16-year-old daughter, Sam, on the bag as caddie for the first time.

The only thing missing were enough birdies.

“It couldn't have been any more special for us,” Woods said after the first of two rounds at The RitzCarlton Club, where they beat the worst of the rain and fell behind 10 other teams.

Matt Kuchar and his son Cameron led the way with a 15-under 57, building a three-shot lead over the teams of Bernhard Langer, Vijay Singh, David Duval and Retief Goosen.

Woods and his son were at 8-under 64, leaning on Charlie's booming drives even while having to move back a set of tees, with

Woods delivering most of the approach shots and neither converting enough birdie chances.

Skiing PARIS WINS DOWNHILL >>

Dominik Paris is back.

The Italian skier dominated a World Cup downhill in Val Gardena to claim his first victory in more than a year — and for Italy a first home win there in the discipline in more than 20 years.

The 34-year-old Paris punched the air and smiled broadly after crossing the line almost half a second faster than two-time defending downhill standings leader Aleksander Aamodt Kilde and then faced a lengthy wait in the leader's chair.

FLURY WINS IN FRANCE >> Jasmine Flury claimed only her second World Cup win as the Swiss skier triumphed in a downhill race, while Sofia Goggia moved to the top of the discipline standings in the absence of Mikaela Shiffrin.
