When false narratives feed further division

- — Nichole Nava, Chico

Rob Davidson (March 31) claims I “don't desire unity; (I) desire homogeneity.” My husband is Mexican and shares my viewpoint, my friends are ethnically, sexually, and politically diverse, and I have transgender friends/relatives. My world is as colorful as it gets.

Davidson makes huge assumptions on my views. Given the leftist stance on the PalestineIsrael war versus me speaking up immediately condemning Hamas as terrorists and supporting Israel's right to self-defense, were this preWWII, I would've been vocally defending the Jewish community. So Davidson's inference that I'm tone deaf to past issues of racial injustices, internment, and women`s rights is laughable.

I find it amusing he “mansplains” equality to me. My commitment to equality is undeniable and constant.

Mr. Davidson wrote, “Nava appears to promote a narrative mocking the trans community … demeaning people who ignore biology to promote feelings over facts.”

My statement “boys become men and girls become women” is 100% factual. Biology! Fighting for women's rights means not allowing men, who believe they are women but are NOT, to take over women's spaces and steal our sports records, scholarships or earned leadership positions.

I won't have my speech compelled, but absolutely respect adults living their lives as they choose when those rights don't infringe upon those of others. America! I don't accept gender-affirming care that pumps children with hormones or surgically alters their bodies when their brains aren't fully developed until age 26. Science!

What actually rings hollow to Davidson's ears is the truth he refuses to accept.
