Mutiso Munyao pulls away to win London Marathon

Alexander Mutiso Munyao denied 41-year-old Kenenisa Bekele a first London Marathon victory by pulling away from the Ethiopian great with about 3 kilometers to go Sunday for his biggest career win.

Mutiso Munyao and Bekele were in a two-way fight for the win until the Kenyan made his move as they ran along the River Thames, quickly building a six-second gap that only grew as he ran toward the finish in front of Buckingham Palace.

He finished in an unofficial time of 2 hours, 4 minutes, 1 second, with Bekele finishing 14 seconds behind. Emile Cairess of Britain was third, more than two minutes back.

Earlier, Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchi­r of Kenya pulled away late to win the women's race and cement her status as the favorite to defend her gold in Paris.

With around 400 meters (yards) to go to, Jepchirchi­r left world-record holder Tigst Assefa and two other rivals behind to sprint alone down the final stretch. She finished in 2 hours, 16 minutes, 16 seconds, with Assefa in second and Joyciline Jepkosgei in third.

CELTICS 114, HEAT 94 >> Jayson Tatum notched his first

career playoff triple-double with 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to lead Boston past Miami to open a first-round playoff series.

Derrick White added 20 points and four assists for Boston, which finished with six players in doublefigu­res.

Bam Adebayo scored 24 points for the Miami, which played for the second straight game without star Jimmy Butler following his right knee injury during the play-in round. CLIPPERS 109, MAVS 97 >> James Harden scored 28 points, Ivica Zubac had a double-double and the Los Angeles Clippers defeated Dallas Mavericks in a playoff series opener.

Harden hit 6 of 11 3-pointers and had eight assists. Zubac's 20 points were a playoff career high

to go with 15 rebounds. Paul George added 22 points. The Clippers outdid the Mavs at their own 3-point game, making 18 of 36 from long range to 10 of 33 for Dallas.

Doncic led the Mavs with 33 points and 13 rebounds. Kyrie Irving had 31 points and seven rebounds, but the Mavs got little from their supporting cast.

MLB ANGELS' RENDON PLACED ON 10-DAY INJURED LIST >>

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a strained left hamstring.

The 33-year-old Rendon got hurt running out an infield hit leading off the game against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Rendon is hitting. 267 with three RBIs this season. He started the season 0 for 19 and has 20 hits since April 5.

Casper Ruud took his revenge against Stefanos Tsitsipas by winning the Barcelona Open final in straight sets for his biggest career title, a week after losing to the Greek in the Monte Carlo Masters final.

Ruud won 7-5, 6-3 for his first title of the season after losing the three other finals he played this year.

Seventh-ranked Tsitsipas had comfortabl­y won in straight sets in Monte Carlo but this time Ruud prevailed, converting three of the six break points he earned.

Late Saturday

CURRENT 5, BAY FC 2 >> Bia Zaneratto and Temwa Chawinga each scored a pair of goals and the Kansas City Current defeated Bay FC.

Bayley Feist added a goal for the Current, playing at home in front of a sell-out of 11,500. Kansas City (4-0-1) remained undefeated through five games and were among three league teams that have not dropped a match this season.

Kayla Sharples and Tess Boade scored for Bay FC (23-0).
