EQUUS

Too much of a good thing

-

“Too Much Time Together?” (EQUUS 439) was so unlike any other article I’ve ever read---and it really made me think about all the years that I did spend too much time with my horses!

I’ve been a horsewoman for 40-plus years, and this is the article that made me sit back and really reflect upon what all that attention does to them mentally. (Isn’t it funny how we always put

everything in human perspective, when the horse certainly is half of the equation and also must be considered?)

After reading this article, I have changed the ways I go about my barn time to make sure I’m not smothering my equine charges with my undying affection for them, at least for longer than they want or need it. This is especially true now that my herd is getting up in years, like me! I will also apply those principles to my elderly dogs because they seem to need some time to just be, as well. Thank you for enlightening me. (And my animals thank you, too!) Betsy Kubisz Lowell, Indiana
