Educational opportunity
I’d like to let EQUUS readers know about an unusual and valuable opportunity provided through my educational think tank, Equine Studies Institute. Over the years we have noticed considerable interest in hands-on animal therapy, with the practitioner offering a “modality” such as acupressure, craniosacral, Feldenkrais or massage. In most states, and to obtain liability insurance, those who hope for employment in this field must be certified, and there are half a dozen different academies or schools that offer such training.
Despite the ongoing need, it is often very difficult for these students---or even for those enrolled in accredited colleges---to obtain required training in anatomy. Our surveys indicate strong interest also among farriers looking for a way to enhance their knowledge
