Lease is more

I really enjoyed “The Next Best Thing” (Back Page, EQUUS 448), about leasing. With these tough economic times we all need to be creative with our horses in order to keep going, and leasing can be the perfect option. I have been leasing my broodmares for the past few years with great success and it’s another direction that horse owners should consider.

By leasing my mares, I get to share all of the anticipation of breeding and delivering the foals; my mares are supported and even bring in a bit of income; and my “social circle” has considerably expanded with the number of new people who have become part of the “family.” And, as an extra bonus, I know that the foals being created are truly wanted and not just being bred for “the market.” Suzanne Eves Robesonia, Pennsylvania
