EQUUS - - Handson -

a. Putting soaked tack near a radiator or heater will cause more damage to the leather than the water alone. Instead, wipe off excess water with a towel, and use saddle soap to clean off any dirt or mud. Then, condition your saddle with oil and let it dry naturally. Saturated tack will be stripped of oils, leading to cracking once the leather is dry, so you’ll want to oil your tack well before that happens.
