Answer

b. Newborn foals take their inaugural nap an average of three hours after first nursing. That nap is likely to be short—averaging only about seven minutes—and some foals doze on their feet because lying down is a complex task for a newborn. They may fall down if they go into deep sleep, but they are remarkably resilient so don’t worry about injury. After this initial snooze, foals will nap often, spending about one-third of their time lying down during the first two months of life.
