Used for: sooth­ing tired mus­cles af­ter ex­er­tion Ac­tion: rapid cool­ing of tis­sues via evap­o­ra­tion and/ or in­creased cir­cu­la­tion and as­so­ci­ated “warm­ing” through coun­terir­ri­ta­tion. Com­mon ac­tive in­gre­di­ents: al­co­hol, witch hazel, men­thol, cam­phor, aro­matic oils Ap­pli­ca­tion: added to a bucket of wa­ter and sponged over the en­tire horse as a “brace” or rubbed di­rectly onto the tar­get area without di­lu­tion. Limbs may be wrapped af­ter lin­i­ment ap­pli­ca­tion for en­hanced “warm­ing” ef­fects. Cau­tions: Ex­ces­sive or im­proper use can lead to blis­ter­ing of the skin or over­heat­ing of tis­sues, es­pe­cially un­derneath wraps.
