Other approaches to ringbone
As a longtime barefoot trimmer and equine massage practitioner, I wanted to add some comments to “Coping With Ringbone” (EQUUS 485).
I remember when removing shoes for any hoof issues used to be the norm, and there was more emphasis on getting the angles correct rather than just putting on the right shoe. Better trimming standards, with respect to angles and hoof conformation, might help prevent more problems in the first place. The article might also have mentioned using a good hoof boot, if needed, if leaving the horse barefoot is too radical. Otherwise, it was an interesting article! Candy Giordano Davie, Florida
