Used for: soothing tired muscles after exertion Action: rapid cooling of tissues via evaporatio­n and/ or increased circulatio­n and associated “warming” through counterirr­itation. Common active ingredient­s: alcohol, witch hazel, menthol, camphor, aromatic oils Applicatio­n: added to a bucket of water and sponged over the entire horse as a “brace” or rubbed directly onto the target area without dilution. Limbs may be wrapped after liniment applicatio­n for enhanced “warming” effects. Cautions: Excessive or improper use can lead to blistering of the skin or overheatin­g of tissues, especially underneath wraps.
