The second-largest building

at the Chicago World’s Fair was devoted to Agriculture. Here we see its north façade, facing the Grand Canal. The towers at left and right honored Viking exploration and the Gokstad ship; Venetian gondolas carrying Fair visitors are visible as they ply the water. The bridge was adorned with numerous sculptures of American animals; visible are tapir, mountain lion and grizzly bear.
