Brice Besser is the chemistry director at MGK, a Minnesota-based company that develops and markets branded insect-control products based primarily on natural pyrethrum and synthetic pyrethroids. Besser received his Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1992.

Derek Knottenbelt, BVM&S, PhD, DECEIM, DACVIM, received his veterinary degree and doctorate from Edinburgh University in Scotland. A professor in equine internal medicine at the University of Liverpool since 1985, Knottenbelt has written 10 textbooks. In 2016, he founded the consulting firm Equine Medical Solutions in Stirling, Scotland (equinesarcoid.co.uk).
