In case of fire: Be careful about locking
Regarding the story “Strategies for Stopping Thieves” (EQUUS 499), please remind everyone that they must not lock horses in their stalls. In case of fire, there isn’t time to unlock or even locate the key. In a fire, horses will tend to run back into their stall to “safety.” Lock the barn if you must, but do not lock your animals in. Thank you from one who has experience with this.
