The Spanish walk is developed from combining control of the feet with free forward movement. The higher the elevation of the forefoot, the more difficult it is for the horse to bring the hind feet forward, so that a long-striding and fluid Spanish walk such as this is a wonderful achievement and proof of great impulsion and suppleness.
