Jaw flexions in the style practiced by Baucher (and later Fillis).

-

The effect is to provoke or trigger release of all tension in the muscles of the upper neck, jaws and tongue. The amount of pressure used is just a few ounces; the head is not to be pulled around. This exercise can be done in snaffle alone, or in riding cavesson, or even just with the hands laid upon the horse’s nose and jowl; it is then called “twirling the head” or “tucking the inside jowl under the throat.”
