PUNCH LIST
Here are the projects completed since purchasing our spread in New Mexico in 2014:
• Fenced the perimeter of the two original parcels
• Drilled a well with a solar tracker
• Put up portable buildings for hay, feeding, storage and tack
• Constructed additional buildings for large hay bales and equipment
• Purchased and set up a used double-wide manufactured home
• Installed underground electric lines and a septic system
• Put up interior paddocks and fencing
• Invested in two tractors and an XTV to enable more
“do it yourself” projects and self-sufficiency
• Sold our Hondo, Texas ranch and moved our belongings—and horses—to our new place
• Trenched and installed a 1,500-foot water line from the well to multiple places on the ranch
• Painted the interior and exterior of our home
• Added solar power to the barn area
• Began organic gardening with an indoor hydroponic system and later added outdoor raised beds that produced all winter; soon we will begin building a greenhouse
• Constructed an enclosed dispenser (the “Hay-Pez”), for doling out individual flakes from 1,000-pound grass bales to the horses
• Purchased additional parcels of land for riding and enjoyment.
