HEART AND BRAINS ON PARADE

Suzanne D’Ambrose and her gelding, Independent Act, working as part of the color guard at a downtown 4th of July parade. Suzanne, a former law enforcement officer, relates that he is 20 years old and not even thinking of retiring yet. They have been doing parades and hunter paces since he was 8 years old, when he came off the track.

Shaleen Gillen with her gelding, Sage Hanover, at another red, white and blue parade. She has enjoyed North America Trail Ride Conference competition as well as riding on the beach with him, and her young students also ride him. They’ve been at it for 14 years. She says, “He’s done it all and done it well. We love him!”
