Lee Green­wood Part Of Bankhead Sum­mer Se­ries

Liver­more Val­ley Per­form­ing Arts Cen­ter has rolled out its Bankhead Presents sum­mer line-up that in­cludes coun­try leg­end Lee Green­wood.

Best known for his pa­tri­otic hit “God Bless the U.S.A.” as well as “Dixie Road” and “Go­ing, Go­ing, Gone,” Green­wood will per­form on July 6, pro­vid­ing the per­fect close for the week of In­de­pen­dence Day 2018.

Au­then­tic Amer­i­can mu­sic will con­tinue through the sum­mer with the ad­di­tion of the New Christy Min­strels’ folk tunes re­turn­ing on July 27 and the West­ern swing sound of Asleep at the Wheel in late Au­gust. The two groups have played at the Bankhead mul­ti­ple times and have earned a loyal, lo­cal au­di­ence. Tick­ets for the newly-added shows are avail­able for mem­ber pre­sale un­til May 3, when they go on sale to the pub­lic.

Mak­ing their first ap­pear­ance at the Bankhead in June will be Montreal-based artis­tic col­lec­tive Cirquan­tique with their daz­zling cabaret bur­lesque show “Bang! Bang!” on June 5 and pop­u­lar 1980s alt-rock band Bet­ter Than Ezra on June 13. This Au­gust, the Bankhead will host a com­mu­nity con­cert with all seats $20, fea­tur­ing lo­cal fa­vorite rock band Lu­naFish. To­gether with guest artists and friends, Lu­naFish will fill the stage in “Psy­che­delic Sum­mer” with hit mu­sic from the ‘60s and ‘70s.

The ad­di­tional new shows dou­ble the al­ready an­nounced Sum­mer se­ries which in­cludes pop icon Rita Coolidge, singer/song­writer Shawn Colvin, Rock­apella tour­ing with The Com­pany Men, blues-rock band In­dige­nous, smooth jazz master Keiko Mat­sui, and Derik Nel­son and Fam­ily. The Bankhead Presents sum­mer se­ries closes with a night of laugh­ter fea­tur­ing the South­ern Fried Chicks on their “Cage-Free Com­edy Tour.” For the first time, ev­ery show in the Bankhead Presents se­ries has a limited quan­tity of seats priced at just $20 each. Stu­dents and ac­tive mil­i­tary per­son­nel are el­i­gi­ble for dis­counted tick­ets all year long.
