I’m often interrupted at work when speaking. How can I stop this?
Focusing on nonverbal communication has helped reduce how often I’m interrupted. When I sit up straight or stand and force myself to take up a lot of space, make eye contact, lean in and remain extremely engaged, I am less likely to be cut off. Of course, it still happens sometimes. When it does, I kindly but firmly say, “Excuse me, I wasn’t finished.”
