I’m of­ten in­ter­rupted at work when speak­ing. How can I stop this?

Fo­cus­ing on non­ver­bal com­mu­ni­ca­tion has helped re­duce how of­ten I’m in­ter­rupted. When I sit up straight or stand and force my­self to take up a lot of space, make eye con­tact, lean in and re­main ex­tremely en­gaged, I am less likely to be cut off. Of course, it still hap­pens some­times. When it does, I kindly but firmly say, “Ex­cuse me, I wasn’t fin­ished.”
