THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT LASIK
1 Your age matters.
Lasik is prohibited for kids under age 18, but for patients in their 20s, the surgery can result in perfect vision. It’s worth noting, though, that those patients will likely need reading glasses later on, while people who have the procedure at 50 or older probably won’t.
2 It’s not covered by most health insurance plans.
But you can use money from your Flexible Spending Account to pay for its cost of $1,000 or more per eye.
3 Be wary if you have medical issues.
Lasik isn’t recommended if you suffer from an autoimmune disease, have certain eye conditions (like dry eyes) or take medications that slow healing.
