As you think through a tough choice, wait until the morning to make the call. In a new study in the journal Cognition, researcher­s examined data from online chess games played by morning and night people. Surprising­ly, both larks and night owls made riskier choices and more mistakes in the evening, but everyone had better judgment in the morning. The reason? The brain favors different thinking styles at various times of day, with a more defensive and cautious approach in the morning.
