The sassy pony
“A ponytail that’s positioned up at the crown pulls focus vertically, giving features a youthful, lifted appearance while elongating the neck for a swanlike look,” says celebrity hairstylist Andre Walker.
Leaving out face-framing tendrils and bangs and flipping ends out gives a plain pony party-ready pizzazz. Plus, as the pony swings, it fans the neck for instant cooling!
YOU’LL NEED: Flatiron, hair elastic, hairbrush, bobby pins
STEP 1: Run 2" sections of hair through a flatiron, pulling the ends out and away from the face so they flip out slightly.
STEP 2: Gather strands into a high ponytail, leaving out bangs and side fringe; secure pony with an elastic at the crown. For added lift, tug slightly on the hair in the tail near the elastic.
STEP 3: Flip the pony up and insert two bobby pins through the elastic on the underside of the pony so the open end of the pins are facing down. Fluff the tail and flip it down over the pins. This props up the pony so it won’t sag or droop.
