Simple way to read Kitty’s mood

Talk about mixed signals! Sometimes when you play with your cat she’s happy and starts purring, but other times she growls at you or tries to bite or scratch you. An easy way to tell how your cat is feeling is to check out her tail: If it’s pointing up but slightly curled at the tip, she’s happy and wants to play. However, if she’s sharply swishing her tail from side to side, that means she’s not in a good mood and you should steer clear.
