Race to the finish line

Mihama, Japan—And they’re off! More than 52 competitive Humboldt penguins waddled their way to the finish line during the annual 100meter race at Minami Chita Beach Land. Although penguins can swim at speeds up to 30 miles per hour underwater, they’re a bit slower on land. But the adorable athletes manage to draw in big crowds every year, thanks to their hilarious moves and their drive to win.
