On mornings when we’re too harried for a homemade breakfast, we rely on the drive-through for a quick bite. But we had to think twice about our shortcut when we learned most fast food contains emulsifiers, like guar gum, that stimulate the growth of bad bacteria in the gut. Studies show these additives can increase fat-packing inflammation and slow metabolism, causing weight gain. We can’t have that, so we went in search of fast-food breakfasts made without emulsifiers and came up with some tasty offerings.
